Community Outreach Volunteer
Equal
Rights Washington is building its base and reach in
communities across Washington State. ERW’s
presence at community events helps raise our profile
and engage gay and straight individuals in marriage
equality and LGBT civil rights.
The role of the
community outreach volunteer is to be the face of ERW
at events through tabling. While tabling the
community outreach volunteer will collect postcards,
solicit marriage testimony, answer questions and hand
out information about how to be involved with ERW and
LGBT civil rights and equality.
Duties Include:
Identify possible tabling events and register for attendance
Staffing tables at events and represent ERW
Solicit marriage testimony and postcards
Talk about ERW and communicate information about the importance of LGBT civil rights and marriage equality.
Desired Skills:
Comfort and ability working with people from diverse populations and backgrounds
Ability to speak comfortably about LGBT civil rights and marriage equality
Ability to travel to events
Able to solicit postcards and marriage testimony
Commitment to LGBT civil rights and marriage equality.
Time Commitment:
The
time required for this position varies, however a minimum
of 4-8 hours per month is desired.
The Community
Outreach Volunteer will work under the supervision
of ERW’s Field Organizer.
