Internships
Interns are encouraged to earn academic credit for their work. Average hours are 12-20 per week, with flexibility in days and hours according to each intern's needs. All positions are unpaid.
Development Internships
The Development Department is responsible for obtaining the necessary funds to support the work of ERW. A development internship at ERW includes a variety of tasks in which you can use and develop your communications, marketing and administrative skills. Interns are encouraged to earn academic credit for their work, but volunteers are welcome. Average hours are 12-20 per week, with flexibility in days and hours according to each intern's needs. All positions are unpaid. We are currently seeking interns for 2008.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct online grant and donor research through a variety of websites. The information gathered will be used by the development department in their donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
Perform
work to increase major donors. Tasks include:
Writing and preparing materials for major donor
solicitation and research potential individuals
to be brought in to the major donor program.
Assist the Communications and Field Department in community outreach events. This includes handing out information to prospective members, tabling and serving as a volunteer spokesperson for ERW.
Monthly - Send welcome packets to all new ERW members that reside in Washington State. Update information as needed. Development intern will draft updates and send to the Development Associate for approval before mailing.
Bi-monthly - Send appeals to all members whose memberships have lapsed asking them to renew.
Conduct mass mailings as assigned by the Development Coordinator. These range from gift appeals to informational pieces.
Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Development Coordinator. Tasks include: proofreading, editing, data-entry, filing, file label preparation, coding membership brochures, copying, etc.
Complete other tasks as assigned by the Development Coordinator.
